Chuck's Cookies & Brownies

Summer always seems to move faster than I want it to. One week the fog is still sitting on the kitchen windows all morning (the joy of living in San Francisco), and the next we are halfway through August and I still have a list of ideas I meant to get to. This box is one I finally got to.

The brownie recipe is not new. Even before I started making chocolates I created this brownie recipe to be the fudgiest around, and it has been a favorite of friends and family ever since. Dense, moist, and deaply chocolaty. 

The cookie is the result of a little friendly competition in the kitchen. The retail store that was part of our old kitchen in the Mission served pastries as well as our chocolates. I had been making a chocolate chunk cookie with Pecans for years and we started selling them in the store. Our production manager is also a phenomenal pastry chef and thought her version with chunks of fleur de sel caramel instead of the nuts was better than mine. 

We decided to put them both in the store and the one that sold best would become the one that continued to sell on the store. I lost! That said, the Chocolate Chunk Fleur de Sel cookie became one of our best selling pastries, so I'm OK with losing that one.

The box holds six of each: six chocolate chunk cookies and six brownies, baked in small batches in our San Francisco kitchen.

Fair warning, they don't last long around here, and I don't expect them to last long at your place either.

We'll be baking these through the end of summer.

COOKIE INGREDIENTS: Wheat flour, butter, brown sugar, bittersweet chocolate (cacao beans, cane sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin, vanilla beans), cane sugar, eggs, cream, evaporated milk (milk, dipotassium phosphate, carrageenan, vitamin D3), glucose syrup, baking powder, baking soda, Fleur de Sel salt, vanilla beans.

BROWNIE INGREDIENTS:Cane sugar, bittersweet chocolate (cane sugar, cocoa butter, sunflower lecithin and vanilla beans), butter, eggs, wheat flour, vanilla bean extract, salt.
