Special Events Assistant
We are looking for a P/T Special Events Assistant to help with demos and tastings in the SF Bay Area. The ideal candidate MUST have a car and be willing to drive to various locations throughout the Bay Area. Locations can include but are not limited to: San Francisco, East Bay Area, Sonoma/Napa, Santa Cruz, the Peninsula, etc. Hours vary from 4-15 hours per week. We are looking for someone who is very outgoing and friendly with great people skills.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing demos in various gourmet markets, wineries and chocolate shops throughout the SF Bay Area
- Organizing and packing all necessary supplies for each demo, including all serving ware, collateral and product
- Coordinating with store staff to confirm which products are carried, how much they cost and where they are located in the store
- Arranging the demo table in an attractive and appealing manner
- Increasing sales of Charles Chocolates products at the store during tastings
- Encouraging people to sign up for our email list
- Ability to pique interest in our chocolates
- Conversing with customers about our products, ingredients, factory and company history
- Cleaning up thoroughly after demo
- Following up with store staff on customer response, updating them on which products sold

Inside Sales Representative
As we grow our sales, we are looking for a dynamic, personable, and motivated individual to maintain relationships with existing customers and also research and develop new accounts.
Responsibilities:- Call existing customers on a regular basis to take reorders
- Communicate information about new products/special offers to wholesale customers
- Research and contact new potential customers
- Open new accounts over the phone
- Set up appointments for our outside account representatives locally
- Occasionally drop by customer sites to check on product supply
- Advise and educate customers about the best product choices for their retail locations

Account Representative
Charles Chocolates is growing very rapidly, and we are looking for motivated and dynamic sales representatives to expand our presence in local markets, and maintain relationships with our retail partners in these regions. Key responsibilities include establishing relationships with the appropriate individuals within each account, selling the advantages of our chocolate line, and selling our products locally. As an outside sales position, most of your time will be spent in the field. Therefore, a reliable car and a clean driving record are required. We are based in Emeryville, California and are looking for a sales account representative to cover the San Francisco, Peninsula and/or South Bay territories. Other requirements include: - Strong problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Self-starter who can work in a fast paced yet casual environment
- Sales experience; regional territory sales experience preferred
- College degree.

Charles Chocolates is hiring interns in several different areas, including sales, marketing, and customer service. If you are interested in learning about all aspects of sales, marketing, online marketing, and customer service for a growing premium chocolate company, we’d love to work with you. Please have a passion and interest in chocolate. These positions can be part-time or full-time, and can be structured as long-term internships, or summer internships only. General functional areas are described below, but we are flexible and willing to work with the right candidate to create a customized internship based on your interests. Compensation is a stipend based on duration of the internship and hours worked. You will manage projects related to all aspects of sales – from working with our retail partners, processing invoices, leading in-store chocolate tastings, to developing and following up on new account leads.
- SPECIAL EVENTS & CORPORATE SALES
Charles Chocolates leads chocolate tastings for various events in the Bay Area. You will be responsible for coordinating all logistics of these tastings. We also offer chocolates for special events, and you will work with clients and help them select the perfect chocolates for their event. Clients include brides looking for wedding favors, corporate clients looking for special gifts, and individuals looking for gifts or a special selection of chocolates. Much of this position will involve helping clients create customized packaging or placing their special logo or image onto our chocolates.
- MARKETING
Marketing includes creation of product brochures for Charles Chocolates, information on seasonal promotions, and providing outside partners with any information or photos needed. This will also include signage and promotional material for the Charles Chocolates store, our retail partners, and projects related to promotion and marketing of our factory store & café and website.
- ONLINE MARKETING
Online marketing is a key area of growth for Charles Chocolates. You will be involved with launching our company weblog, creating online marketing campaigns, managing our monthly email newsletters, growing our email list, initiating and managing online partnerships, affiliate programs, and other forms of online marketing.
- PUBLICITY
Charles Chocolates has received much media attention, and we’re looking to take it to the next level. Our Publicity Intern will launch and manage our Press Website, manage and organize all photos, logos, press releases, and company materials, and create our Press Kit. You will also manage our press kit, manage contacts on the press list, write press releases, coordinate shipping of samples, organize press tastings, and follow up with members of the press.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
Customer service is a key value at Charles Chocolates. We are looking for an intern to manage customer questions and inquiries, as well as respond to questions about order status from our retail (online, store, phone, and email) and wholesale customers. You will work very closely with our shipping & delivery department, production team, and sales team in this role.
- ADMINISTRATION
As our office grows, we are looking for ways to stay organized and streamline communication flow. We need assistance with meeting scheduling, administrative and organizational tasks, communication with employees, planning of company events, and research of various types. You will primarily support our CEO and VP of Operations.
